Focus on the big picture

Focus on the big picture

We’ve all dealt with people who get too caught up in the details. Whether it’s a project, a trip, a committee or a team, sometimes people lose sight of the big picture.

Sometimes we hear stories of people paying a bag of money for consulting or research and ending up with a final product that’s totally average. That really stinks.

Keep the end in mind.

Service providers can often put more time stacking up evidence for their recommendations than actually producing quality work. Whether it’s reports, market research, surveys or diagrams, it’s all garbage if it doesn’t lead to a better result. In the end, it doesn’t matter how much evidence you have.

What’s the point?

Care about the end result. We can’t all be responsible for the big picture, but we can make efforts to see that our part contributes to the success of the whole. Do a great job and realize that your individual part of a project or team effort doesn’t exist in a bubble.
