I’ve been instructed by Micah to “drop it like it’s hot”, so here goes:

Tonight, as many of you know, is the lift office warming party. The snacks are in place, the wine is uncorked and the foosball table has been greased — what more could one ask for? I can think of one thing: your feedback!

We’re expecting a wide range of attendees tonight: clients of all kinds, business owners, designers, programmer and photographers. The interesting thing about this mix of people is how varied the internet-savviness is: some of us will undoubtedly be tweeting during the party, while others will perhaps feel that “tweeting” is something that should not be done in the presence of others.

In an effort to bridge the gap, we’d like everyone attending the party tonight to leave a comment on this post, especially anyone who’s never left a comment on a blog before! Think of it as a gentle introduction to the social web. We’d love to collect everyone’s comments over the course of the evening!

Need something to say?

If you’re not sure what to say, here are a couple ice-breakers to help get you started:

  • How do you know the lift crew?
  • Do you tweet in public?
  • Did you challenge us to a foosball game?
  • If so, how badly did you lose?

For bonus points, try to be the first to answer one of the questions below:

  • Which of the many clocks on the wall tells the correct time?
  • What substance is the board room table made of?
  • What is the lift Owl’s real name?
  • What glyph do we have framed on the wall? (Mega bonus points for identifying the typeface!)
  • What political office is on the same floor as us?

Thanks again to everyone planning on coming tonight. We’re sure it will be a blast!

    Lauren says:
  • 1. I know the LIFT crew through Eli. I went to school at NAIT with him.
    2. Facebook FTW?
    3. Yes.
    4. We weren't used to the table. Too much grease. That's my excuse and I'm sticking to it. Final score: 10-2.

    Nick Johnston says:
  • I used to do a touch of consulting for them.

Goodness No! (but I would if I had an iPhone.)

Nope; I have the all the hand eye coordination of potato. I consider it a win.

The table is made of love.

Just a shot in the dark I'm going 100% from memory but was it Garamond?

Rachel Notley the local MLA (NDP)

    Noah says:

Bonus Questions: 1. The black clock top leftish & 5. Rachel Notley Alberta NDP MLA

    Chris LaBossiere says:
  • 1. Congregate with the Slavens, knew Lukey as a youngster and also worked with him

    2. Only on Tuesdays

    3. Victoriously played foosball. I am in agreement with too much grease...but we still won ;)

    Veronica says:
  • Thanks for hosting guys, it was great! I know Lift through Kyle, and yes I definitely tweet in public.

    Mack D. Male says:
  • i missed it. and it was one of the worst nights i've had in a long time. coincidence?

    glenroy says:
  • 1. Met the folks from lift through Twitter beginnning with Micah. Seems we have quite a bit in common. 2. I tweet in public, but primarily when around other twitterers. Those who don't do it often don't understand and perceive it to be rude. 3. I played foosball and lost by 1 point, it was close.

Unfortunately I was paying too much attention to the people I forgot to eat, didn't find my way to the boardroom and cannot answer the question of what material/substance it is made of.

Great to see the space. Congratulations!

    Thorren Koopmans says:
  • 1. I know the lift guys through my friend Rowdy the Owl (he works there).

    2. I'm not really sure what tweeting is, but it sounds really geeky.

    3. I played foosball and won every game by quite a large margin -- you can see some photos of my skills at http://liftinteractive.com/news/2008/oct/22/keep-your-head/>

Great space guys. You're some of the most brilliant and creative guys I've ever met!

    Joe Client says:
  • I met Micah last week, over beers with Glen Ronald. We get together occasionally, to shoot down Glen's ideas in a public setting. We feel there is less chance he'll harm himself or others this way.

I think I even got teh skill testing question for the t-shirt prize wrong ...

Great to talk with you further, and excellent work on the space. DIY FTW!

I do tweet in public, but didn't while at Lift. I think the projector suspended outside and below the interior windows made me nervous.

    Taylor Reese says:
  • I know LiFT primarily through Kyle, and then Micah through the magic of Twitter. :)

I do tweet _occasionally_ during public, but I am cheap so I limit it because Twitter isn't on My 5.

I watched people play Foosball and worried the jumping ball would invariably hit me in the face. :D

    Anyhoo, lots of fun. :)

    Lea says:
  • I know about Lift through Kyle. That guy seems to know everybody!

I do Tweet in public and my kids hassle me for it. I'll continue though. :)

Sadly, I was not able to make it last night, but I do plan on stopping by and challenging you to a foosball game. How about Aussie rules foosball? I may have a better chance at that.

    Alain Saffel says:
  • 1) I did some contract work for them back in the day.
    2) Twitter gives me much joy each day.
    3) Unfortunately I was scared away from the foosball table. Well, not really but I vow to play someday.
    4) See above

    Colin says:
  • 1 i know the lift crew because i know the eli dupuis 2 i may be the only person on this blog that despises twitter, so no, i do not and will never tweet 3 i will challenge anyone to foosball 4 I won

thanks for being the first blog i've ever replied too and sorry I was 2 hours late for your par-tay. Apparently none of the clocks on my wall display the correct time.
