Excitement! Disappointment! 4
So I was getting ready to watch a TV show last night and I was quite excited because I actually remembered that it was on – before it was on. 2 minutes to showtime. I turn to the appropriate channel. What?! The show has already started… Very strange… Very strange indeed.
Then the end credits come on. Enter disappointment. I missed the show.
After I accepted the fact that I had missed the show by about 58 minutes, I realized something: this roller coaster of emotion is very similar to a certain situation in web development. If you’re familiar with the inner workings of the web, you probably know what I’m talking about. It’s a little gem known as Internet Explorer.
You see, when I’m nearing the completion of XHTML/CSS template I get very excited about my accomplishment. All the pieces are falling into place and my code is clean and effective. Then I check the layout in Internet Explorer. Enter disappointment.
I’m not going to go into any more detail about my thoughts on Internet Explorer – at least not right now – but I will direct you to a little movement known as IE Death March.
And just for good measure, here’s a few good (aka real) browsers: Firefox, Opera, Safari.
